Ljubljana Realtime discovers events in Ljubljana in real-time using social services such as Twitter, Instagram, Foursquare and Flickr, searching for all geo-tagged posts in a vicinity of the city. Originally, it was intended as a tweets-on-a-map application - a spinoff from Neolab's Twitter wall - but since then, it's evolved into a full-blown social event discovery algorithm.
Fueled by the initial success, we have tried to implement other local instances as well (Maribor, Zagreb and Zurich), and we are currently testing the behavior for other cities with different attributes.
